Last Updated 2024-07-11

Boom Fantasy distinguishes itself from traditional DFS platforms by emphasizing quick, easy-to-understand contests. Rather than drafting entire teams, players make predictions on individual player performances. This simplicity makes Boom Fantasy accessible to newcomers while still providing depth and excitement for seasoned DFS enthusiasts. We are happy to see Boom Fantasy continuing to add to their platform, such as offering new contest types and expanding their resource section.

Contests and Game Types

Boom Fantasy originally launched with their classic Pick’em Contest. In a classic Pick’em Contest, users select 2 to 5 players and choose whether each player will perform better or worse than a projected outcome for a specific stat. The more selections you make, the higher the potential payout. There are two types of predictions you can make for each selection:

Over/Unders: This is your typical DFS selection. Choose whether a player will go over (above) or under (below) their projected outcome for a specific stat, such as player points, player touchdowns, player shots on goal.

Matchups: Choose whether a player will perform better or worse than another player in the same stat line. Sometimes these matchups will display as a spread. For example, if the matchup is Kevin Durant points (+10) vs Lebron James and Kevin Durant scores 15 points and Lebron James scores 20 points, then Kevin Durant wins the matchup because of the 10 points handicap.

You can combine a mixture of Over/Under and Matchup selections to create your Pick’em Contest selection.

Boom Fantasy has recently expanded their offering to include three variations of their Pick’em Contest:

  1. Toss-ups: The classic Pick’em contest. Combine 2 to 5 selections of players and answer either an Over/Under or Matchup for each.
  2. Favorites: Choose just one side of the matchup sticking with the favorites
  3. Longshots: Select riskier outcomes but get rewarded with higher potential payouts

Boom also offers a “Coverage” option which you can choose to toggle on before submitting your selections. With Coverage, you can still receive a payout even if one or more of your selections is incorrect, however it comes at the cost of your maximum payout.
